Tad's Rants

D Minus

I don’t have the skill or experience to understand why an athlete as remarkably gifted as Mike Rumph, who was so successful in college, who was drafted so highly by the Niners, can’t find his niche. All I’m left is guessing. I guess it's his head, but I’m probably wrong. If not his head it could be his coaching, but we have a new coach and it would be too early to tell. It is a team sport, but the secondary is getting broken down because the other teams see a weakness and they are exploiting it.

After nine TD passes by opponents in three games and Plummer out for six weeks with surgery this is a difficult time for the secondary and the team. Arizona will be testing with Boldin and Fitzgerald, two very talented receivers. I’m skeptical of Warner, but it appears the Niners may be a great confidence-builder for over the hill QB’s. It worked for Bledsoe as he surpassed Montana on the all-time passing yardage list.

Nolan has shaken things up and we’ll see Rumph back at corner. Let’s hope Plummer gets well soon and that Nolan’s feel-the-fire-or-get-fired speech fixes what needs fixing. Tossing one to Arizona would be a big downer for the Niners.
