Candlestick Parking
Rant, Take 2
So in my previous rant,
I had mentioned the
Orange jacket guy, and how cars were not allowed to park in the RV
portion of the RV lot, so my tailgating group has gone to parking with
the cars. It has actually turned out to give us more room to spread out
all of our gear, so that isn't so bad. Still get to have an extra space
to tailgate, even though it costs a bit more than the normal lot.
As for the rant part, I am getting to that. First of all, someone
in the higher ups of either the Dork Organization or the San Francisco
Park and Rec screwed up royally. In their infinite wisdom, they tried
to make all cars go down Bill Walsh Way at Gilman. For those who don't
know where Bill Walsh way is, it is the street along the school on one
side of Candlestick. This caused traffic to back up to 3rd street. My
family has been going to games since the keasar days, and there has
never been a back up that bad, even for the NFC championship games.
This for the Toilet bowl? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It took
my parents and me 45 minutes to go the 4 blocks to the stadium, and
that was with taking a side street to get one block away. There was
some excuse about fake parking passes, but it just seemed extremely
unorganized to me. If it wasn't for the parking attendant recognizing
my parents as regulars, we probably wouldn't have gotten into the RV
lot, and been forced to park in one of the outer lots.
The other part is due to my previous rant of not allowing us to
park in the RV portion. It would appear that the people working the
parking lot on Sunday were not paying attention, as walking through the
lot to find some other friends we discovered many cars within the RV
portion. Not to mention many gaps between spots. I mean, I am only a
fan, but having a 60 foot gap between RVs usually means you can get
another RV or two within those spots. There were several of those
spots, so they could've fit at least 6 more RVs. Dork must have been
angry for losing $240 for those six spots. There were many RV's that
couldn't even get into the lot, so that shows the stupidity of whomever
was in charge.
Another stupid act by the 49ers management was to have the hummer
group in the RV lot for the 49ers raiders game. If I am looking at the
49ers schedule when it is released, that is probably one of the few
guaranteed sell outs, and I would try to convince the hummer group to
come to another game in order to inflate the attendance numbers. So not
only were the parking attendants stupid for allowing so much space
between RVs, they cut off a large portion of the lot for the Hummer
group, making the regular tailgaters pissed off.
The final portion of this parking portion of this rant is after the
game started, they allowed cars/RVs to park within the fire lanes in
the RV lot. The 49ers and the SF parks are rec are lucky that there
wasn't a fire, or something else that would require vehicles to leave
in a hurry since there were several cars blocking exit lanes, and
exits. Not only is it annoying for those leaving after the game, it is
quite illegal. This is not to mention the regular lot where it would be
nearly impossible to get out without hitting someone. I am not even
sure who to complain to, not that my complaint would get me anywhere.
It would appear that the 49ers management is also poor at trying to
figure out that fans like to drink beer at games. It is not much fun to
have to pay $8-9 for a good beer at the stadium, but it is the only way
to have a beer when watching the game. You would think that the team
would have some kind of plan in mind when it came to having kegs
switched out when they got empty. By the end of the 2nd quarter, most
of the beer was gone at one of their stations, and they wouldn't even
sell beer to people by the 2nd half. Dork must be hitting himself
upside the head for realizing how much money he lost in not having beer
for people to drink.
It appears that horrible management is making its way down to lower
levels to further alienate fans who continue to support the team. It is
getting more and more apparent that the Dorks just care about the money
they are making with the team with their continual lack of training of
people in and around the stadium. Simple things like having sufficient
parking for people wanting to tailgate, and sufficient beer available
to purchase should be an easy thing, but not for a management like the
Dorks. It makes me wonder how Dr. Dork made any money with his outside
businesses if this is how he runs a "business". Bring back the team
being run like a family, and he will be making more money than he does
now.
